A lot of the talk in NBA free agency this year will be about where guys like Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball end up, but Carmelo Anthony is a very intriguing veteran forward to keep an eye on.
After being traded from the Knicks to OKC in 2017, Anthony’s career began to decline and many believed that this was the last of Melo in the NBA, especially after his short stint with the Rockets during the 2018-19 campaign.
However, Carmelo has played great in a “sixth-man” type of role in Portland the last two seasons, which is why he is arguably the best veteran free agent this offseason.
Over the last two years, Carmelo Anthony has averaged 14.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and shot 39.9% from three-point range, which is why he can still be a high-impact player.
He may not be the 10x All-Star, 6x All-NBA and 3x Olympic gold medalist, but Carmelo Anthony is still a key talent that can contribute for virtually any playoff contending team in this league. There are definitely a handful of teams who could entertain the idea of adding him to their bench this offseason, but three teams really stick out as possible suitors.
With this said, let’s take a look at the Top-3 landing spots for Carmelo Anthony in free agency this year and why these three teams could all be serious threats to sign him to a minimum deal.
