Coming off their miraculous run to the NBA Finals in the NBA Bubble, the Miami Heat had high expectations for the 2020-21 season, but things didn’t pan out the way they had hoped. Injuries and health protocols really took a toll on their roster and the Heat were never able to get back in the groove like the one that led them to the NBA Finals in 2020.

As a result, the Heat got swept in the first-round of the playoffs to the eventual champions in the Milwaukee Bucks. Now, Pat Riley and this front-office are looking to be very aggressive this offseason with their moves to bring in more talent. With Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, the Heat have two All-Star-like players to build around, but they are missing that third key contributor.

Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn have all been solid, young players the Heat have had as secondary talents over the years, but they cannot seem to give this team enough production that they need, especially now, to contend with the likes of the Nets, 76ers and Bucks in the Eastern Conference.

Miami knows they need to spend a lot of money this offseason to keep their championship contending status, which is why they will be going “all-in” on the idea of adding Kyle Lowry to their roster.

The Heat announced today that they had picked up the $19.4M team option on Goran Dragic’s contract, as well as declined the $15M team option on Andre Iguodala’s contract, which may be everything we need to know about a sign-and-trade in the works.

Lowry is good friends with Jimmy Butler and Miami was one of the teams highly interested in acquiring him at the trade deadline this past season, which is why he is the key free agent to watch this offseason. What could this potential sign-and-trade between the Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors look like? Let’s take a closer look.
