This Bulls-Pelicans sign-and-trade is centered on Lonzo Ball to Chicago

Lonzo Ball has been a major topic of conversation since the NBA trade deadline. He is entering free agency and this made many believe that the New Orleans Pelicans would be interested in trading him prior to the end of the season.

The most likely suitor for Ball now appears to be the Chicago Bulls with our own Evan Massey being the first to report. Ball has been linked to Chicago since the NBA trade deadline. Chicago is a team that flipped a switch and decided to buy at the deadline rather than selling some of their stars.

Once this was the direction, it was a rumor that Ball could be on his way to the Bulls. That is still a possibility as we creep closer to the offseason. The Bulls added Nikola Vucevic in the middle of the season and could be looking to improve the backcourt.

It is unlikely that ball re-signs with the Pelicans. He was sent over initially in the Anthony Davis deal from the Los Angeles Lakers but has yet to find a comfortable home since entering the league. This is especially the case given New Orleans’ aggressive pursuit of Kyle Lowry.

Ball has been linked to many teams, such as the New York Knicks, but Chicago could be one of the better destinations. This would allow the Pelicans to attempt to put more assets around Zion Williamson moving forward.

This is an interesting trade featuring two teams looking to take that next step toward the postseason. Let’s take a look at what a potential deal between the Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans could look like in the offseason.
