It was not too long ago that Victor Oladipo was considered one of the brightest up-and-coming shooting guards in the NBA.

He was an All-Star during the 2017-18 season, averaging 23.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists and led the NBA with 2.3 steals per game. His Pacers went toe-to-toe with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in a first-round series that went seven games. He was on an upward trajection until injury struck.

Oladipo tore his right quadriceps tendon in 2019, which derailed his career. He battled back to return for the end of the 2019-20 season and was looking healthier with the Pacers again at the beginning of the 2020-21 season.

He was then part of the James Harden blockbuster deal, landing in Houston. He played 20 games for the Houston Rockets before being acquired by the Miami Heat. Unfortunately, he lasted only four games with the Heat before the injury struck again.

Oladipo underwent surgery on his right quadriceps again in May, which originally put him on track to return sometime in November. Now, it is being reported that he could be out until any time between mid-December and February.

That is a tough break for Oladipo, as he was set to enter unrestricted free agency this summer. If he doesn’t get any offers he and his representatives don’t get any offers that they like, he could opt to sit out this season and re-enter NBA free agency in July of 2022, 100 percent healthy.

While his market may take a while to develop, these three teams should consider signing Oladipo this summer in NBA free agency.
