Does this trade make sense for the Chicago Bulls?
Getting Kendrick Nunn in a sign-and-trade definitely gives the Bulls immediate value at the point guard position, something they desperately need, but at the same time, they could just pursue Nunn as a restricted free agent.
The Heat need to upgrade their roster talent wise and they also have to deal with the pending NBA free agency of restricted free agent Duncan Robinson, so Nunn could slip through the cracks and out of their hands. With roughly $13M in cap space, the Bulls could potentially bring in Kendrick Nunn on a $13M-$15M per year contract and they also have the ability to free up some extra cap space.
Tomas Satoransky and Thaddeus Young both have partially-guaranteed contracts and could either be waived to save some money, or they could both be potentially traded to free up more cap space for Chicago to play around with.
If they were to move both of these two veterans, then the Bulls could even have enough cap space not only to sign Kendrick Nunn, but possibly sign Lauri Markkanen back as well. There are a lot of possibilities for what the Bulls can do this offseason, but they need to be aggressive in trying to add a point guard.

Bringing back Markkanen is a possibility for them, but overall, they would not be affected as greatly if they were to lose the young forward in free agency. This trade not only gives the Bulls their point guard of the future in Nunn, but a future first-round pick that could be utilized or leveraged down the road.
There is a lot to think about for the Bulls this offseason and with other key free agents, Chicago could have their hands full in terms of guaranteeing contracts for the foreseeable future this offseason. They are not far off from being a playoff team in the Eastern Conference, but the Bulls are still a far ways away from being a true threat.
