New York Knicks
Another team that is expected to be aggressive in free agency and on the trade market is the New York Knicks. New York was able to give fans a reason to be excited about this season, securing the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference in Tom Thibodeau’s first year as head coach.
However, the Knicks were quickly ousted in the first round of the playoffs by the Atlanta Hawks. New York’s duo of Julius Randle and RJ Barrett were a large reason why the team exceeded expectations.
Derrick Rose also became a key contributor to the roster after being traded to the Knicks ahead of the trade deadline. But with Rose becoming a free agent, and the team needing a starting point guard, Lonzo Ball could be on New York’s radar.
Ball had an opportunity to play with Randle for one year when both of them were members of the Lakers. This time, it would be with a Knicks team who is looking to compete now.

With Ball being a stout defender and a much-improved shooter, Thibodeau may advocate for the Knicks’ front office to make a move for the UCLA product. This could be the right approach to add shooting to a team that sorely needs to add more threats from deep, too.
