During this season, ahead of the NBA trade deadline, there were rumors of Lauri Markkanen possibly being traded. One of the teams that reportedly expressed interest in Markkanen was the Dallas Mavericks.

At the same time, reports surfaced that Markkanen liked the idea of potentially joining the Mavericks this offseason. It’s hard not to see why Markkanen believes he’d be a exemplary fit in Dallas.

Kristaps Porzingis is inevitably going to be traded from the Mavericks this offseason as they’ve discovered he doesn’t mesh well with Luka Doncic.

While Markkanen isn’t a premier rim protector, he can give Doncic much-needed shooting from the power forward position.
