The Oklahoma City Thunder seems to be in a continuous cycle of rebuilding. Sam Presti is addicted to first-round picks, as Oklahoma City added three more in the last 24 hours; two from the Houston Rockets in a draft-night trade and one from the Utah Jazz for taking on Derrick Favors.
The Thunder made four selections in the 2021 NBA Draft, selecting Josh Giddey sixth, Tre Mann 18th, Jeremiah Robinson-Early 32nd and Aaron Wiggins 55th. Three of those players, Giddey, Mann and Wiggins, are backcourt players.
That could be another clue that the Thunder are open for business when it comes to guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. They reportedly tried to use him as a trade chip to move up in the draft, but their overtures were denied.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander would look good in the New York Knicks’ backcourt alongside RJ Barrett. SGA is a legitimate two-way combo guard that is only getting better as he enters his age 23 season. He would fill the void at the point guard spot New York has had for too long and fits the team’s timeline.

It would be costly, but the Knicks did add some more future assets. With three new guards coming to the roster via the 2021 NBA Draft, the team may already be preparing for life after Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
