Miami Heat Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Goran Dragic (Team Option), G Tyler Herro, MIA 2024 1st Round Pick (Swap, More Favorable to PHI), MIA 2025 1st Round Pick (Unprotected), MIA 2026 1st Round Pick (Swap, More Favorable to PHI), MIA 2027 1st Round Pick (Unprotected)
Outside of Goran Dragic and Tyler Herro, the Heat really do not have much to offer the 76ers for Ben Simmons unless Philadelphia is interested in either Duncan Robinson or Kendrick Nunn in a sign-and-trade offer.
Dragic has a $19.4M team option for the 2021-22 season that could be of interest to the 76ers seeing as he is a veteran, former All-Star player who can still be a key part of a championship roster. He may not be as talented or have the potential Simmons does, but Goran Dragic was the starting point guard for the Miami Heat when they reached the NBA Finals in 2020.
Tyler Herro is a player the Heat have been unwilling to include in trade proposals over the years, but to get Simmons, they may finally pull-the-trigger and ship him away. Herro is a really talented young player, but he does not really present much upside as an All-Star talent for the Heat.
In Philly, Herro can definitely be a key “sixth-man-like” talent for the 76ers, but again, he is nothing more than a key offensive talent. This does not mean that he is useless though in trade talks for Simmons. At 21-years-old, there is still plenty of room for Tyler Herro to grow and he could become a sustainable shooting guard for many years to come in this league.

Ben Simmons on the Heat’s roster opens up the door for Miami to finally have a new version of the “Big 3” that they could contend for a championship with. Simmons is being labeled a “project” by many right now, but he still has the potential to grow into the best two-way player in the league.
Trading for him will not be easy and it seems likely that the Heat do not have the assets the 76ers are looking for in a Ben Simmons oriented trade, but let’s take a look at whether or not this trade makes sense for both Philadelphia and Miami.
