Golden State Warriors Receive: G/F Ben Simmons

Another team with reported interest in Ben Simmons dating back to last year are the Golden State Warriors. After missing the playoffs for back-to-back seasons for the first-time since before the 2012-13 season, the Warriors are a team that is looking to add another All-Star-level talent in the offseason, which is why they have expressed interest in Simmons.

While they may not offer up a talent like Malcolm Brogdon, who is a borderline All-Star guard, they can offer up Andrew Wiggins and some lottery pick in this year’s draft. Wiggins came over to Golden State last year from Minnesota after the Warriors traded D’Angelo Russell for him.

Warriors’ GM Bob Myers and the entire coaching staff are very high on Wiggins as a young, versatile forward on the wing, but he is owed $31.5M next season and is the main trade asset that the Warriors can deal. At 26-years-old, Andrew Wiggins is only going to get better as a two-way threat on the wing, which is why he could be a realistic target for the Philadelphia 76ers if they were to trade Simmons.

Not only should the Sixers consider Wiggins, but they should want him as well because of the fact that he is a real two-way threat. He averaged 18.6 points while shooting 47.7% from the floor this season and led the Warriors in blocked shots this season.

He is more than capable of being a third scoring option for a high-powered offense like the Sixers and they really would not lose much production on the defensive-end of the floor due to Andrew Wiggins’ ability to guard numerous positions.

Getting two lottery picks in this year’s draft is also valuable because the Sixers could not only add two young talents to their core, but they could also look to flip these draft picks to add yet another solidified talent that can help them in their quest to win a championship. Eric Paschall is also another solid, young role player they would get in this trade that could help the Sixers’ frontcourt.

Overall, this trade with the Warriors is pretty balanced for the 76ers because they replace Ben Simmons, a two-way threat in the backcourt, with a guy in Andrew Wiggins, who is a two-way threat on the wing. They really do not lose any production on defense, but they definitely get better offensively, which is the main goal for the Sixers this offseason in a potential Ben Simmons trade.
