Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: G D’Angelo Russell
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: LAC 2022 1st Round Pick (unprotected, via OKC), MIA 2023 1st Round Pick (Lottery-Protected, via OKC)

This trade is very straightforward and simple. If the T-Wolves are looking to get draft compensation out of trading D’Angelo Russell, then they have come to the right place because the Oklahoma City Thunder have plenty of draft picks to use as they see fit.

Who knows if the Thunder would even be interested in trading some first-round picks for a guy like D’Angelo Russell, especially since they added Kemba Walker earlier this offseason, but if the Timberwolves want draft compensation, they should definitely reach out to the Thunder about their potential interest in the former All-Star point guard.

For Minnesota, if they are willing to trade D’Angelo Russell, it means that they believe in their young core with Towns as their leader, but they want to continue adding more young talents to their team. Unfortunately for them, they do not have a first-round pick this year, which is why getting draft compensation moving forward is extremely important.

There are not many options for Minnesota to turn around their losing ways without adding more young talent, which is why they could look to make this deal with OKC in the offseason. Getting first-round picks is very valuable and for a team that needs more talent on their roster, it is essential.

This trade with the Thunder gives the Timberwolves everything they need to continue rebuilding themselves into a young, hungry team with plenty of talent, the only question though is whether or not the Thunder are interested in Russell at this kind of price. For a first and a second-round pick, the Thunder may be interested but two first-round picks for an injury prone Russell may not be what they had in mind.
