Chicago Bulls
Chicago Bulls Receive: G D’Angelo Russell, MIN 2023 2nd Round Pick
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F Thaddeus Young, G Coby White, CHI 2022 1st Round Pick (Top-5 Protected)
The Chicago Bulls were big winners at the NBA trade deadline this year as they were able to acquire All-Star center Nikola Vucevic. With Vucevic and Zach LaVine, the Bulls now have two All-Star players, but they are still missing that one extra piece to their puzzle to finally be a consistent playoff threat.
When healthy, Russell is a very underrated point guard in this league and could definitely be a great third star to add next to Vucevic and LaVine, but the only question is whether or not the Bulls are willing to invest a lot into an injury prone point guard.
Giving up a veteran player like Thaddeus Young in the final year of his contract would not be that big of a loss, even though he has had a sensational season as a role player for Chicago, but giving up a young talent like Coby White would be quite the investment. If the Bulls were to make this deal, they would need to make sure that Russell can still play at a high-level and can stay on the court.
Coby White has a bright future as a combo-guard in this league but the Bulls are expected to make a change at point guard this offseason. For the Timberwolves, getting a young backcourt talent like White is definitely worthwhile in a trade involving D’Angelo Russell, as is getting a veteran frontcourt player like Thad Young. Outside of Towns, the Timberwolves don’t have much production in their frontcourt.

Jaden McDaniels has a ton of potential to grow into something special, which is why bringing in an experienced, veteran guy like Young makes a ton of sense. He could contribute immediately while also being a mentor to McDaniels and some of the other younger talents on this roster.
