The New York Knicks enter the 2021 NBA Draft in an awkward spot. Even though they possess two first-round picks, they are the No. 19 and No. 21 overall picks, putting them in the second half of the first round.
As the 2021 NBA Draft has neared, there are reports that the Knicks are possibly pursuing moves that would allow them to move up in the draft. At the same time, trading for a proven commodity shouldn’t be ruled out for a team that is hoping to take another step forward next season.
The Knicks have plenty of cap space this summer and they are known to be targeting multiple All-Star caliber players in free agency or on the trade market.
Outside of Julius Randle and RJ Barrett, the Knicks don’t have many definitive long-term pieces on their roster.

With the Knicks hoping to improve upon their playoff appearance this season, I expect them to be working the phones to complete a trade during Thursday night’s draft.
