Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
In order to get Kyle Lowry, the Philadelphia 76ers would have to give up a ton of their bench and hard cap themselves, but this move would set them over the top in terms of having enough talent to compete for championships in the Eastern Conference.
The Nets’ “Big 3” is not going anywhere anytime soon, which is why Philadelphia will be forced to find ways to add even more talent to their roster, even if they do potentially beat the Nets in the playoffs this year. Adding Kyle Lowry would be the best move the 76ers can make this offseason, which is why doing a sign-and-trade with Toronto would be beneficial to the Sixers.
With the addition of Lowry, Ben Simmons could move to the power-forward position for Philly and have a lot of pressure taken off his back. Simmons is the only real facilitator and ball-handler for the 76ers this year, which is why adding Lowry would be beneficial for the young 7-footer.
In this trade scenario, giving up both Maxey and Milton hurts the 76ers bench depth, but they would still have Matisse Thybulle and Seth Curry, giving them a very strong core group to work with and add veteran, minimum players around.

While they would likely be hard-capping themselves and be tied down financially for many years to come, this core that Philadelphia could assemble would be one of the best in the entire league, which is why they need to take a chance like this. Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris are all “All-Star” caliber players in their own rights, which is why adding a fourth All-Star is something Philly needs to do if given the opportunity to do so.
