Veteran point guard Isaiah Thomas is fighting to get back into the NBA. After not playing in an NBA game for nearly 16-months, Thomas signed a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans this past season and made the most of his chances.
Thomas played in three games, averaging 7.7 points. While the percentages weren’t pretty, it was an opportunity to show the rest of the league that he is healthy once again and can help a roster in need of point guard help.
The rest of the league took notice. After the 10-day contract expired, the Pelicans elected not to re-sign him but he had piqued the interest of front offices around the league. NBA Analysis Network’s own Evan Massey shared the news, as the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat were all reportedly interested.
While Thomas ended up not signing with another team during the regular season, he put himself squarely back on the map for teams this offseason.
