Does this trade make sense for the Oklahoma City Thunder?

This trade definitely makes sense for the Thunder and for a couple of reasons. Marvin Bagley III is not going to be a franchise-changing talent, but nobody they will draft with the 18th pick will be either.

Oklahoma City has three first-round picks this year (6, 16, 18) and three second-round picks (34, 36, 55), so they can look to be aggressive in adding talent.

Bagley was not drafted second overall back in 2018 by accident, as he is still a young player that can grow into something special. He is athletic, versatile and still growing as a player, which is why the Thunder would be smart to invest in him.

The worst thing that happens is that he does not fit in with their plans moving forward and he becomes a restricted free agent during the 2022 offseason, giving the Thunder the option to potentially involve him in a sign-and-trade to another team or more assets.

There really is no downside to trading for Marvin Bagley III this offseason, especially if his price is as low as it would be in this trade scenario. The Thunder are rebuilding and need some frontcourt help moving forward, which is why trading for Bagley makes sense.
