Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: F Marvin Bagley III
Sacramento Kings Receive: MIA 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick #18), OKC 2021 2nd Round Pick (Pick #34)

Sacramento is going to be looking for guys to pair with De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton for the foreseeable future this offseason, which is why they could definitely be interested in draft picks from OKC. The Kings own the 9th pick in this year’s draft, so getting their hands on another first-round pick and an early second-round pick opens up a world of possibilities for them.

Not only could they use both first-round picks and the now two second-round picks they would have to draft young, impactful players to build with moving forward, but they could also have the trade assets to bring in a high-level talent. Who they could possibly target is unknown, but Sacramento does want to make somewhat of a big move this offseason.

Marvin Bagley III has been a solid, young player early on in his career and through three seasons with the Kings, he has averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and has shot 50% from the floor. Given his physicality on the interior and ability to step out on the perimeter and knock down a shot, he is definitely a player that could be of interest to the Thunder.

He is only 22-years-old and a very athletic power-forward/center option that would fit right into the type of player mold Oklahoma City needs/wants. Right now, Isaiah Roby and Darius Bazley are the only two “big man” options the Thunder have in their frontcourt, which is why they should be interested in a guy like Marvin Bagley III.

For what is likely a small cost of a draft pick or two, the Thunder could very well trade for Bagley at really no cost to them. OKC has a total of 38 draft picks through 2028, so they can definitely afford spending some on young guys like Bagley.

A trade between the Kings and Thunder revolving around Marvin Bagley III is definitely plausible this offseason, so let’s take a look at whether or not this trade truly makes sense for both teams involved.
