Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?

The Indiana Pacers made their first big move when Victor Oladipo was sent away. Once the team began spiraling downward, other big names began being thrown into NBA trade rumors but the front office decided not to do anything more. That might not be the case in the offseason as the Pacers look to get back to being a postseason contender.

It is time that Indiana better optimizes how they are spending their salary cap room. This is where Myles Turner could be the first man moved. He is making $17 million per year, which is a team friendly contract for the player you are getting. However, having two big men in today’s NBA just isn’t the best of ideas.

Adding Rozier in a backcourt along with Brogdon would give Indiana the best of both worlds. Brogdon is a strong defender and can score if needed while Rozier thrives on the offensive end. Caris LeVert would slot in at the three spot with TJ Warren rounding out the perimeter around Domantas Sabonis. Indiana would also have the option of starting PJ Washington and bringing one of their guards off-the-bench.

Any Eastern Conference team near the bottom should be aggressive in making moves. We all saw a conference that was extremely top-heavy with a lot of commotion down near the bottom. It will not take much for lesser teams to grab a lower seed in the conference next year.

Pacers coach Rick Carlisle is known for using three-guard lineups and acquiring Rozier would enable the Pacers to deploy him alongside Malcolm Brogdon and Caris LeVert. This could afford the team with a lot of speed and playmaking ability. This could be a key closing group.
