Does this trade make sense for the Miami Heat?

The Miami Heat are a win-now team. They are not interested in rebuilding for the future in any capacity. Miami feels like they have the players to compete in a weak Eastern Conference and they can only get better with a player like Brandon Ingram.

Miami has a chance to lose some players this offseason. Duncan Robinson could get a lucrative deal in free agency and they would lose Herro in this particular trade.

There are recent rumors around the NBA expressing how Robinson has ‘big fans’ in New Orleans, so that could end up making this situation a reality if he were to sign a massive offer sheet there.

Getting a player like Ingram back would take care of the problem and bring the Heat a new dynamic on the offensive end. Miami was completely overmatched in their matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks and clearly need to add more players who can attack off-the-dribble.

Ingram can get it done at all three levels and take over a game at the end if needed. This would give the Heat another option that defenses would have to game plan for. There was a real lack of impact in this regard from other players on the team in the playoffs, especially with Herro not having a breakout season.

This will not be the first time Miami made a blockbuster move in the offseason. They have a history of doing this and we could see it once again if Pat Riley wants to continue to be aggressive.
