Houston Rockets
Much like the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Houston Rockets are also a team that is rebuilding and looking to add young, versatile talents to their roster. They also have three first-round picks in the draft, much like the Thunder, as they have the No. 2, 23 and 24 picks in Thursday’s draft.
ESPN has reported that Houston has expressed interest in packaging both of their late first-round picks together to move up and get another lottery pick, but they could possibly entertain the idea of trading either the No. 23 or No. 24 pick for a former lottery pick in Cam Reddish, who brings experience with him to a young team looking to build.
With the Rockets looking to move Eric Gordon this offseason according to numerous rumors around the NBA, this leaves them with All-Rookie wing Jae’Sean Tate, Danuel House Jr. and Sterling Brown, if they re-sign him in free agency. Bringing in Reddish would be a smart move not only because he is a “score-first” type of player like Kevin Porter Jr. but the former Duke Blue Devil can help the Rockets in terms of perimeter offense.
Houston ranked 28th in the league this past year in three-point shooting, something Reddish can aid them in as he develops further, and Reddish can also help the Rockets defensively. Houston gave up the 4th most points per game to their opponents during the 2020-21 season, which is another reason why adding the Hawks’ young wing makes sense.

The No. 23 and No. 24 picks are definitely “tradeable” and sources have told NBA Analysis Network that Houston does want to move one or both of these picks to upgrade their young core. Whether this is by adding another lottery pick or trading for a guy like Cam Reddish, we should expect the Rockets to be busy on draft night.
