Success has been a word that has not been mentioned much with the Sacramento Kings over the years, other than when used to refer to De’Aaron Fox and rookie Tyrese Haliburton. Other than Fox and Haliburton, the Kings have not seen much success internally as an organization or on the court. That’s why they are a team to watch in NBA trade rumors this offseason.

They missed the playoffs for the 15th consecutive season this year and finished with a 31-41 record for the second consecutive year. This organization has not made any progress, which is why change is definitely coming this offseason.

For years now, the Sacramento Kings have been deemed the “laughing stock” of the NBA given their lack of success and as a result, they have not been able to go after valuable assets during the offseason because nobody wants to play for them!

Having the 9th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft gives the Kings another chance to add onto their core of young talents, but overall, moving on from some of their current core players could be something on the horizon. Trading Buddy Hield may not seem like the best thing for the Kings to do given his value to them on offense, but Hield can give them a handful of assets they could potentially utilize moving forward.

One playoff contending team who could show a lot of interest in Buddy Hield this summer is the Los Angeles Lakers. Led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers are going to be looking to add more talents that can help them win another title, which is why Hield could be of value to them. In fact, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Lakers and Kings have discussed a trade centered around Buddy Hield.

Los Angeles does not have much cap space and not many trade assets, but they do have a player who could be of interest to the Kings at the forward position, as well as a player who could be a solid backup plan for them if they lose Richaun Holmes in free agency.

Let’s take a look at what the Lakers could possibly offer up to the Kings in a potential buddy Hield oriented trade.
