Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks surprised everyone with their performance during the 2020-21 season. Atlanta started the season 14-20 before firing head coach Lloyd Pierce. Nate McMillan was named interim head coach and the team took off.
McMillan led the Hawks to a 27-11 finish in the regular season, winning the first eight games he coached. They also advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals, losing to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games after defeating the New York Knicks in five and Philadelphia 76ers in seven.
While the Hawks have a strong roster, Karl-Anthony Towns would help cement them among the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
Pairing him with Trae Young would create an unstoppable inside-out game that teams would have no answers for. Their pick-and-roll attack with Clint Capela, a limited offensive player, was hard enough to stop. Imagine the offensively gifted Towns in that spot instead?

The Hawks have a ton of young pieces they could put on the table in Onyeka Okongwu, De’Andre Hunter, Kevin Huerter and Cam Reddish. John Collins could be used in a sign-and-trade as well. The Hawks also have all of their first-round draft picks and an extra one in 2023 they can use to sweeten the deal as well.
