The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the most talented, young centers in the NBA. He is a modern-day big man who brings dynamic versatility to the offensive side of the ball, as he can dominate from the perimeter as much as he can inside the paint.
While he is a star in the making, he has yet to help the Timberwolves win many games. Minnesota has missed the postseason 16 out of the last 17 years, with the only appearance coming in 2018 when Jimmy Butler was on the team. That team in the 2017-18 season is the last time they had a winning record since the 2004-05 season as well.
The Timberwolves did start to show some life at the end of the 2020-21 season as Anthony Edwards began to emerge. The team selected Edwards with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Georgia and he came on strong in the second half of the season.
The organization could elect to pair Edwards and Towns together alongside D’Angelo Russell, whom Towns wanted to join him in Minnesota. Or, they could elect to blow things up and rebuild around Edwards as the new face of their franchise.
