The 2021 NBA offseason could define the next few years for the Washington Wizards. Superstar shooting guard Bradley Beal is eligible to sign a long-term extension with the team this summer.
If he commits to that, the team can go about building the team up around him and Russell Westbrook to cement themselves among the playoff contenders in the Eastern Conference. If he does not commit long-term, they are going to have to think long and hard about trading him and jumpstarting their rebuild.
Several teams would be interested in Beal should the Wizards make him available this offseason. The landscape of the NBA could swing depending on which team was able to pry him out of Washington.
The price to acquire him, even though he can opt-out of his contract following the 2021-22 season, would be astronomical. Beal is one of the best players to ever suit up for the franchise, so parting ways with him will not be easy.
