There has to be some noise coming out of the front office in New York this offseason. GM Scott Perry signed a contract extension with the Knicks and should feel comfortable to go make some big moves. The Knicks showed that they need a star moving forward if they want to begin capitalizing on some NBA regular season success.
New York was the surprise of the regular season. After being expected to finish near the bottom of the standings once again, the Knicks clinched the fourth seed and won 41 games. Once the postseason rolled around, they did not have the same luck.
The Knicks were dominated by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round and went quietly in five games. Julius Randle and RJ Barrett looked a bit over their heads and this is why the Knicks need a star or some more depth. This is not a move that will land them that next-level star but it would check a box right away.
The Utah Jazz would be an intriguing trade partner. This is another team that suffered a disappointing fate in the postseason. The Jazz finished with the best record in the league and were the top seed in the Western Conference.

After winning the first two games in the second round against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Jazz dropped four in a row and fell short of their goal. Utah is in a good position moving forward with Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. They will continue to compete in the West for years to come.
This is an interesting deal that could benefit both sides in different ways. Here is what that deal could look like in the offseason between the Knicks and Jazz during the offseason.
