Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Kyle Lowry
Toronto Raptors Receive: F Kyle Kuzma, C Montrezl Harrell, G Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, 2021 First-Round Draft Pick
The trade package the Los Angeles Lakers send the Toronto Raptors will be determined by the size of the contract Kyle Lowry signs. For this piece, we are assuming that Lowry signs a lucrative extension worth almost as much as his $39.3 million cap hold.
In this scenario, Montrezl Harrell picks up his option and is subsequently traded to the Raptors. Toronto needs a center. The Lakers are expected to be in the running for Andre Drummond and Richaun Holmes, so Harrell fills the void in the middle left by Aron Baynes being a free agent.
Kyle Kuzma gives the Raptors another young wing player to pair with OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam in the frontcourt. He would provide excellent depth and scoring punch with the second unit as the team’s sixth man.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is included in this deal to help match salaries. If the Lakers and Lowry agree to a smaller cap number, he can be withheld from the deal. His 3-point shooting and defense is something Los Angeles would like to hold onto, but they have had no qualms about shopping him.

The 22nd overall pick in the draft gives Toronto another building block piece if they do embrace a rebuild. They already own the No. 4 overall pick in this year’s draft, so they could add two foundational pieces for the future.
