3 teams who could offer intriguing trade package for Russell Westbrook

The Washington Wizards could have a busy NBA offseason ahead of them. Everyone is focused on what they will do with their superstar shooting guard, Bradley Beal.

Beal has a player option for the 2022-23 season he will undoubtedly decline so that he can sign a new long-term deal. If Washington gets the feeling that he will not commit to the franchise beyond this season, the team will have to seriously consider trading him away and collecting as many assets as they can.

While that draws a lot of attention, and rightfully so, the Wizards have another veteran on the roster that will be impacted by the team’s direction in Russell Westbrook. The Wizards acquired Westbrook last offseason in exchange for John Wall and a 2023 first-round draft pick.

If Washington decides to begin a rebuilding process, they would assuredly shop Westbrook along with Beal to see what he could fetch on the open market. His contract makes him very difficult to trade, as he is owed $44.2 million for the 2021-22 season with a player option worth just over $47 million for the 2022-23 season.

Westbrook was productive for the Wizards, averaging 22.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 11.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game last season. Those are excellent numbers, as the former UCLA product can still help a team win games.

Which teams could be interested in adding Westbrook? Here are three teams who could offer intriguing trade packages for Mr. Triple Double.
