The Golden State Warriors find themselves in the midst of making some franchise-altering decisions this offseason. With the No. 7 and No. 14 picks in the 2021 NBA Draft, they have the capability to continue adding talent to what looks to be a very talented young core moving forward, but there have been discussions about Golden State possibly looking to trade these picks.

With Andrew Wiggins being only 26-years-old, James Wiseman being 20, Jordan Poole being 22 and Eric Paschall being 24, the Warriors already have a lot of talented young players to surround Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, but this team still seems like they are missing something.

Their roster right now is very reminiscent of the 2014-15 Warriors team that went on to win a championship, but there are two key differences between then and now. The first is that they do not have an “Andre Iguodala” type of player on their roster who can come in off-the-bench and make a big difference as a veteran presence and the second is that the league is much different than it was 5-6 years ago.

The Western Conference in particular has so much more talent and there are a bunch of teams who really do have a legit shot to win a title. In the West alone, the Jazz, Suns, Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets and even the Mavericks are all teams with title aspirations next to the Warriors, which makes for a lot more competition.

Curry, Thompson and Green all healthy definitely puts the Warriors back in the conversation to be championship contenders during the 2021-22 season, but adding another key talent/superstar to their roster could set them over the edge compared to their competition.

In fact, according to The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson, the Warriors veterans of Curry, Green and Thompson “have made it clear to management they want the franchise to focus on the pursuit of a championship.”

If Golden State is going to go “all-in” on trying to win as many championships with their core group now, then trading one or even both of their lottery picks, as well as Andrew Wiggins, could be very much in-play this offseason.

With the 2021 NBA Draft less than a week away, a decision will have to be made rather quickly by GM Bob Myers and this front-office on whether or not they will be trading their picks for a superstar, but let’s take a look at three star players the Warriors could realistically target in a trade within the next few weeks.
