The New York Knicks are in a great position to upgrade their roster this NBA offseason. After surprising everyone with a 41-31 season in Tom Thibodeau’s first as head coach of the team, the opportunity is there to build upon that.
New York was successful last season on the back of their defense. Thibodeau-coached teams always get after it defensively, and the Knicks fully bought in last season. This offseason, it is paramount that the team adds some more offense to their already dominant defense.
During the team’s first-round loss to the Atlanta Hawks, it was evident that the Knicks needed more offensive firepower. Even with their strong defense, they were unable to keep up with the Hawks offensively when the game slowed down and was played more in the halfcourt.
Derrick Rose was New York’s best player in the postseason, as Julius Randle and RJ Barrett were unable to find their groove. Without their two leading scorers from the regular season having any success putting the ball in the basket, their playoff appearance was short-lived.

Adding another player that can create his own shot would help take pressure off of Randle, who was often tasked with bailing out the offense. A point guard upgrade is also imperative, even if Rose is re-signed.
With that in mind, here are three trades we’d love to see the New York Knicks make this offseason.
