With the Phoenix Suns losing Game 6 to the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA Finals, the 2020-21 season is officially over. Now, everyone’s focus will turn to the offseason with the NBA Draft taking place on July 29th and free agency occurring shortly after that.
The Suns are a team that will have some work to do this offseason. They will want to shore up their roster so that they can remain contenders in the Western Conference after a great 2020-21 season.
Phoenix finished as the No. 2 seed in the conference with a record of 51-21. They took advantage of the road they were given in the playoffs, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets and LA Clippers en route to the NBA Finals. While each opponent was dealing with injuries to star players, the Suns still had to win the games and navigate an injury to their own star, Chris Paul.
Paul batted a shoulder ailment early in the playoffs that hampered his play on the court. He also missed the first two games of the series against the Nuggets.

Paul is now expected to decline his player option for the 2021-22 season and enter unrestricted free agency. While it is widely expected that he will return to the Suns, there are plenty of teams that will at least try to court him, one of them being the Los Angeles Lakers.
