Does this trade make sense for the Oklahoma City Thunder?
Kemba Walker does not quite fit into what the Oklahoma City Thunder have been attempting to build recently. They now have 19 first-round picks over the next seven years and have some young talent in place.
Taking on a big contract like Walker helped them get another pick this year but that is not something they want to have over the next few years. That is where a trade will be extremely beneficial.
Coby White is more of what the Thunder are looking for. He is a perimeter player that has some experience starting in the league. It is unknown what the Thunder will do with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander this offseason. White could act as a backup plan at point guard or play alongside him in the backcourt.
Either way, he is a beneficial player in this trade. Tomas Satoransky and Al-Farouq Aminu are other rotation-caliber players that have been featured as main trade pieces for Chicago. The Thunder are still building and it is unlikely that they will be ready to compete anytime soon.

This is why Oklahoma City will try to move some big contracts and clear space. It will be interesting to see how Presti puts his next part of the plan in motion moving forward.
