Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?
The most important thing for the Celtics this offseason is to find a point guard that can mesh well with Tatum and Brown. Both Kyrie Irving and Walker were point guards that demanded the ball, causing issues with who was going to handle the ball the most.
Does Boston believe that Smart can move to the point guard spot and thrive as a starter? If they do have confidence in Smart, then they should look the other way when it comes to trading for Brogdon.
However, Brogdon would be a perfect point guard to replace Walker, especially since he doesn’t need the ball to contribute.
While Brogdon isn’t the most flashy or athletic guard, he makes up for it in other areas of his game. Brogdon is an efficient shooter, evidenced by his career 38.6 percent shooting from outside.

Both Tatum and Brown would have a point guard that can excel in catch-and-shoot situations, along with being able to be a playmaker when needed. Not to mention, Brogdon is a stout defender, giving the Celtics a much-needed boost on defense.
