Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
Seeing that they potentially want LeVert as their primary ball handler, Brogdon could become expendable for the Pacers. Trading Brogdon won’t be hard as there would be a handful of teams interested in landing the 28-year-old guard out of Virginia.
If Indiana does proceed with offloading Brogdon this summer, then they need to make sure they get a decent return for him.
Getting Smart in the trade would be ideal for the Pacers, inserting a tenacious player on both ends of the court into their lineup.
Smart doesn’t need the ball to be effective, which means that he wouldn’t negatively affect the usage of LeVert or Sabonis. As for Thompson, he’s long been a reliable energy player for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Celtics, grabbing offensive rebounds at an impressive rate.

Indiana could use Smart and Thompson, who could both bring experience to a team that doesn’t have much playoff experience under their belt.
