Christian Wood signed an offseason contract with the Houston Rockets last year. He put up the best numbers of his career and this put great value around the big man. All it took was the team giving him a chance after he reached free agency following his time with the Detroit Pistons.
Wood might not be a future piece in Houston, as there are many years left on the rebuild. This means they could look to move him in a trade in hopes of getting something significant back.
The fact of the matter is that Wood will be 26-years-old before the start of the 2021-22 season. For a team who is in the beginning of a long-term rebuilding, it just does not make much sense to hold onto him when involving him in the NBA trade scenario would command assets.
Another top 10 selection in the 2021 NBA Draft is a prime example of what the Rockets could land if they were to move Wood in a trade. Meanwhile, a team like the Sacramento Kings already has its star in De’Aaron Fox who is coming into his own but needs more help.
