Allows Jamal Murray To Play Off-Ball
When the Denver Nuggets have Jamal Murray in the lineup, he is their starting point guard. He has taken strides as a facilitator and playmaker, but Murray’s real strength is scoring the basketball. Adding a player like Kyle Lowry in a sign-and-trade alongside him would allow him to focus on that more often.
Lowry could take over as the main point guard in the Nuggets’ offense, making them even more dangerous. Lowry is an excellent table-setter, averaging 6.2 assists per game in his career and 7.1 per game in his tenure with the Toronto Raptors.
A lot of the Nuggets’ offense is run through Nikola Jokic, so adding Lowry would give them three legitimate playmakers in their starting five. It would also allow Michael Malone to stagger them throughout the game so that he has a lead facilitator on the court at all times.
Pushing Murray to play off-ball more would allow him to focus on scoring the ball, which is what he does best. He averaged a career-high 21.8 points per game before tearing his ACL, a number he would have a great chance of surpassing without having to focus on being a facilitator as much.

The combo guard role in the starting five is something Lowry has plenty of experience doing from playing alongside Fred VanVleet the last three seasons.
