Delon Wright

Brad Stevens and company have to do something about the point guard position this offseason. They traded away Kemba Walker without having an in-house replacement unless they are planning on using Marcus Smart there full-time with Payton Pritchard as his backup.

Unless a free agent is willing to take a massive discount to sign with the Boston Celtics, they will have to find their next starter on the trade market. A realistic option that would help is Delon Wright of the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings acquired Wright last season from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Corey Joseph and two future second-round picks. Given how deep the Kings are at guard, the Celtics might be able to snag Wright this offseason.

The former Utah product has played well when given the chance. He had a great 26 game stretch with the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2018-19 season and played well with both the Pistons and Kings. Standing 6’5”, Wright can play either backcourt position, giving Ime Udoka some versatility in the backcourt as he can play alongside on or off the ball.

While not the flashiest name, Wright would be a good addition to the Celtics backcourt. He can create for himself and his teammates and is a good defender that could breakout with a full-time starting gig.
