For years now, the Orlando Magic have been trying to get back to their “glory days” when Dwight Howard led them to the NBA Finals in 2009, but over the last decade, the Magic have been a team that has ended up near the bottom of the standings time and time again. The 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons were generous to the Magic, as they made the playoffs both of these seasons, but they ended up losing in the first-round both years.

Success has been hard to come by in Orlando and they were not going anywhere as an organization over the last several seasons, which is why this front-office made the decision to “blow things up” by trading away All-Star center Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier at last year’s trade deadline.

A new era of Orlando Magic basketball has begun and right now, there really is no identity to this team. They have a bunch of young, talented players in Jonathan Isaac, Markelle Fultz, Cole Anthony, R.J. Hampton, Wendell Carter Jr. and others, but to expect anything special from this team during the 2021-22 season is crazy.

The Magic are rebuilding and they will be looking for ways to build a core of young talent for future success, which is why they could be open to trading some veteran players and guys on expiring contracts. One player who is not a veteran talent, but is entering the final year of his contract is Mo Bamba. Keep an eye on him in rumors this NBA offseason.

The 23-year-old center stepped up this past season near the end of the year, but the Magic will likely be open to dealing him if they can get some future assets in return. While they are hunting for championships right now, the Los Angeles Lakers could be interested in adding a young, lengthy frontcourt talent, especially at the center position.

The Lakers do not have many assets to offer up, but there is one player that Orlando could be highly interested in to add to their collection of young talents. Let’s go ahead and take a look at what Los Angeles could possibly offer to Orlando in order to potentially acquire Mo Bamba.
