Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks need to make moves this offseason. Their salary cap flexibility will be virtually gone once Luka Doncic’s max extension kicks in. While Dejounte Murray plays the same position as Doncic, they would form a strong pairing in the backcourt.

The Mavericks need someone, anyone, that will play defense. Murray is a strong defender who is only improving. At 6’4” with a 6’10” wingspan, Murray can be a terror defensively playing the passing lanes.

He averages 1.3 steals per game in his career and with that size can defend multiple positions. That multi-positional defensive versatility is exactly what the Maverick needs in their starting lineup and makes for a great backcourt partner for Doncic.

Offensively, Murray has shown improvement as a facilitator, as his assists per game have increased every season in the NBA. Having another player that can run the Mavericks’ offense would take a lot of pressure off of Doncic to run the show by himself.
