The Portland Trail Blazers have to be bracing for a potential Damian Lillard trade request on the way. There have been some contentious feelings between the two sides, as Lillard is getting frustrated with the team’s lack of success. Reports also popped up that he was not thrilled with how the head coaching search was conducted.

Portland has to work hard in fixing this relationship. Lillard is the face of the franchise and has carried them for the past few seasons.

While Damian Lillard has denied the NBA trade rumors involving him, It has been reported that he will request a trade soon and if that occurs, a trade being consummated during the NBA Draft makes sense.

Portland would want as much draft capital as they could get trading away their best player. Teams such as the New York Knicks, who have been a popular destination in mock trades, could be able to give Portland two picks in this year’s draft.

The Golden State Warriors have the No. 7 and 14 overall selections to offer in a trade as well if they believe Damian Lillard is the piece that will help get them back into title contention. James Wiseman is another great asset the Warriors have that can be included in a deal.
