Does this trade make sense for the New York Knicks?
The New York Knicks have not had a franchise point guard in years. It is hard to remember the last impact performer at the top of the offense. A De’Aaron Fox trade would check two boxes that the Knicks need — a star and a point guard.
The Knicks have missed out on that big opportunity in recent offseasons but they cannot afford to swing and miss this time around.
All of a sudden, the Knicks have expectations and hope. They entered the season as a team in the East expected to finish near the bottom of the standings and land a lottery pick. That was not the case and now they need to put the right team on the floor.
Derrick Rose was incredible during the postseason but he is not a long-term piece. Thibodeau has this team trending in the right direction and a De’Aaron Fox trade would solidify the lineup in a big way. He is a two-way player that is quick with the ball in his hands.
The duo of Randle and Barrett is good but not good enough to get the Knicks to where they want to be. Add another star and the Knicks have something cooking moving forward.
