Does this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?
The Detroit Pistons were one of the worst teams in the league last season. It is obvious that they are going to try to rebuild and it will be interesting to see their course of action. Landing the first pick in the draft is a huge bonus, especially when there is a prospect like Cunningham that will be available.
Jerami Grant has two years left on his contract but it is going to take longer than that for the Pistons to be competitive. He theoretically could have been signed to be used as a trade piece.
If that was the case, this worked out better than Detroit could have hoped. Grant showed prowess on both ends and the value around him is tremendous heading into the offseason.
Jackson Jr. is a young prospect that has shown promise when on the floor, but that has been his problem. Along with another first-round pick, the Pistons could load up on some more young players in hopes of retooling.

Detroit catches a bit of a break being in the Eastern Conference, which is the weaker of the two, but they are still years away from contention. They should be interested in any draft that comes their way and especially with a return like this one.
