Best and worst trade destinations for CJ McCollum this offseason

Bad Fit: Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers could be an interesting team to watch for CJ McCollum, even though they aren’t a contending team.

Based on roster makeup, the Cavaliers can offer up someone like Collin Sexton or Kevin Love — plus other assets — for McCollum if Portland is interested.

While getting a player of McCollum’s caliber would be great for the Cavaliers, crowding their backcourt even more doesn’t make much sense.

Also, while McCollum could play close to home, the Trail Blazers likely won’t send him to a team that is rebuilding.

Adding McCollum to a guard group of Darius Garland, Isaac Okoro, and possibly someone from the 2021 NBA Draft seems like it could limit the development of certain players.
