Atlanta Hawks Receive: F Jimmy Butler
Miami Heat Receive: G/F Bogdan Bogdanovic, F De’Andre Hunter, C Onyeka Okongwu, No. 20 pick, 2023 first-round pick, 2024 first-round pick swap and 2025 first-round pick (top 5 protected)

It would be a surprise to see Jimmy Butler being traded. This is something he knows about over the course of his career. Butler would be a blockbuster addition for an up-and-coming team like the Atlanta Hawks.

It’s all about timing in the NBA. A championship window does not last long and if the Miami Heat ever truly had one, it has since been slammed shut…unless, of course, they were to come away this offseason with another superstar to add into the mix.

Given the nature of the free agency market and the lack of premiere draft assets the Heat have, it’s unlikely they will come away with that kind of a talent. Now, they have to pay big money to keep an underachieving team together.

Butler would not come cheap for the Hawks. Bogdan Bogdanovic was a main cog for this Atlanta team and he would lead the return. De’Andre Hunter and Onyeka Okongwu would be other young options for the Heat. To round out the deal, Miami would land three first-round picks.

Having some young pieces that can immediately be inserted alongside Bam Adebayo for the long-term should be an intriguing possibility for the Heat. Trying again later to attract a younger superstar could be the best approach for Miami to take in order to win a championship in this scenario.

Let’s take a closer look and see how this NBA trade scenario centered on Jimmy Butler would impact both the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat.
