4 teams who could pursue sharpshooter Duncan Robinson

Miami Heat sharpshooter Duncan Robinson is going to become a very rich man this offseason. After going undrafted in 2018 and beginning his career in the NBA G League, Robinson is set to hit restricted free agency this offseason and cash in.

As a restricted free agent, the Heat will have the opportunity to match any offer sheet he signs, should he even receive one. There is a strong likelihood that another team extends him an offer, which would then shift the ball into Miami’s court if they want to match and retain him.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN believes that Robinson could land a deal worth $20 million annually.

“This could be a $20 million a year player. Remember, teams are going to put out an offer sheet out there that they hope that Miami won’t match. It’s going to be difficult to pry him from Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra.”

Brooklyn Nets sharpshooter Joe Harris was able to land a four-year, $72 million deal from them, so there is no reason Robinson can’t approach and surpass that number this summer. As a restricted free agent, teams know they will have to pay a little more if they want any chance of landing him.

Robinson will have a strong market this summer. He is already one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA, connecting on 42.3 percent of his attempts in the regular season and 39.3 percent in the postseason.

He does have some shortcomings, as he doesn’t have much of an offensive arsenal beyond shooting 3-pointers and is a poor defender. Robinson knows that and is going to work hard this offseason to change that.

If he is able to do that, he becomes that much more valuable. While the Heat would undoubtedly like to retain him, there are four teams that should pursue Duncan Robinson this offseason.
