The 2021 NBA offseason began sooner than anyone would have liked it to and it has already been filled with plenty of action. This occurred when the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder engaged in a trade that featured Kemba Walker and Al Horford.
They have a new head coach in Ime Udoka, who is replacing Brad Stevens. Stevens took a spot in the team’s front office and is taking over for Danny Ainge, who stepped down from his role.
Stevens will be tasked with upgrading a roster that fell woefully short of being an Eastern Conference contender as many predicted coming into the season. Ainge shouldered a lot of that blame for putting the roster together, but some of Stevens’ magic as head coach seemed to be wearing off.
Stevens already made one move, as he traded away starting point guard Kemba Walker to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Stevens will now have to fill that hole in the backcourt, as he acquired veteran big man and former Celtic, Al Horford, in the deal.

Luckily for Stevens, there is no shortage of point guard options this offseason whether it is in free agency or via trade. One player that could be of interest is Derrick Rose.
Rose looked rejuvenated during his second stint with the New York Knicks, playing under his former Chicago Bulls head coach, Tom Thibodeau. Rose was the best Knick during their short-lived postseason and is entering free agency this summer.
Could the Celtics pursue Rose? Here are three reasons why the Chicago native would be a good target for Boston in NBA free agency.
