3 perfect NBA free agency destinations for Tim Hardaway Jr.

Tim Hardaway Jr., Dallas Mavericks, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

Tim Hardaway Jr. is entering free agency for the second time in his NBA career this summer. He will be looking to top the four-year, $71 million deal that he landed from the New York Knicks last time and very easily could do so.

Hardaway Jr. has played well the last two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, more often than not being the second-best player on the team alongside Luka Doncic. He averaged 16.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 160 games, 106 starts, with Dallas.

Hardaway Jr. can score the basketball, which is why teams will be lining up for his services. His improvement from the 3-point line is what will draw their attention, as he took major strides in that area the last two seasons. He knocked down 39.1 percent this season after connecting on a career-high 39.8 percent in 2019-20. Over that stretch, he made nearly three 3-pointers per game.

Hardaway Jr. is also an improving defender. While he won’t be making any All-NBA Defensive teams, he at least puts in the effort on that end of the court, as he was tasked some nights with defending the best wing player on opposing teams.
