The 2020-21 NBA season went better than expected for the New York Knicks. The team went 41-31 in Tom Thibodeau’s first season at the helm, earning the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference.

While they were bounced in the first round by the Atlanta Hawks, it was still a wonderful season in the Big Apple. Now, it is time for the team to build upon their foundation and continue cementing themselves among the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference and eventually NBA.

This offseason will be an important one in that quest, as the Knicks are in a great position to upgrade the roster. New York has a plethora of draft picks and ample cap space.

The Knicks can continue adding to the core they already have in place in RJ Barrett and Julius Randle, or try and swing for the fences for a superstar unhappy in his current situation, such as Damian Lillard.

Whatever direction the organization decides to go in, one player they should look into bringing back is Carmelo Anthony. Anthony has had a career renaissance in recent years with the Portland Trail Blazers after being written off by the media following difficult stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets.

Now as he enters free agency, New York could be a good match for him. Here are three reasons a reunion between Anthony and the Knicks makes sense.
