Lonzo Ball
Entering free agency, Lonzo Ball is an interesting name to follow. Ball is a restricted free agent for the New Orleans Pelicans, meaning they can match any offer that comes his way.
If the team doesn’t want to match the offer, they can elect to let him walk, or they could push for a sign-and-trade. There has been legitimate speculation about the Pelicans being willing to listen to potential offers in such a scenario for Ball.
A sign-and-trade would make sense for the Chicago Bulls as it would create cap space for Ball’s future contract. Outright taking him on wouldn’t provide as simple of an option to reconfigure the landscape of the roster.
Ball has always been a gifted passer and a stout defender at the point guard position. Everyone has always questioned whether or not he would be able to develop his outside shot enough for him to become a well-rounded guard in the NBA.
