The Los Angeles Lakers fell well short of their goal of repeating as NBA Champions. After winning the Larry O’Brien Trophy in the Orlando Bubble, the team was eliminated from the 2021 postseason by the Phoenix Suns in the first round.

Injuries played a big part in the Lakers’ struggles this season. LeBron James and Anthony Davis both missed extended periods, as Davis also suffered an injury in the postseason. Dennis Schroder missed time because of health and safety protocols twice as well.

The team was rolling before the injuries mounting, so they may not change much when it comes to their roster. However, if they want to shake things up, one player they should consider targeting in trade is Cleveland Cavaliers point guard, Collin Sexton.

Sexton is entering the last year of his contract and the Cavaliers are reportedly open to moving him. If they select a guard with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the likelihood of a Sexton trade increases.
