New York Knicks
The New York Knicks are in desperate need of an upgrade at the point guard position. Elfrid Payton has manned the spot for the last two seasons, but anyone who watched the postseason knows he is not long for the job.
There are several ways the Knicks can go about upgrading the spot. They can try and pry Damian Lillard out of Portland, depleting their assets and depth. They could sign a younger player that is closer to the timeline of their roster, such as Lonzo Ball. But, as we all know, Tom Thibodeau loves his veterans and would be ecstatic to get a player like Lowry into the fold.
Lowry would bring a lot to the table that the Knicks are missing, his 3-point shooting being chief among them. Lowry knocked down 39.6 percent of his long balls last season and is a 36.8 percent shooter in his career from distance. That would help open up the floor for RJ Barrett and Julius Randle to operate and attack the basket.
Lowry is also a tenacious defender, something paramount to the Knicks’ success. His playmaking would also be a boon for the starting five.

The Knicks have pursued Lowry in the past, as they were on the verge of acquiring him in 2013 before James Dolan stepped in and nixed the deal. Eight years later, they could finally land him as their veteran point guard to help get the team to the next level.
